What You’re Actually Drinking, Washing In, and Cooking With

Adelaide tap water is treated to be safe, but it doesn’t arrive pure. It carries chlorine and chloramine added at treatment, sediment picked up through the network, and a seasonal taste that shifts with the supply mix. Most of Adelaide’s mains comes from the Murray, topped up by the Mount Lofty reservoirs and the desal plant at Lonsdale. In summer, Murray supply increases and algal blooms produce a musty, earthy flavour that some people taste through the chlorine.

How a Whole House Filter Fits Into Your Home

The system mounts externally, near where the mains comes in. Water passes through two or three filter cartridges before reaching anything else in the house. A typical setup uses a sediment cartridge to catch grit and rust, then a carbon block to remove chlorine, taste and odour. Some systems add a third stage for finer filtration or specific contaminants.

A standard two-stage system pulls out the things you can taste, smell, and see. Three-stage systems add finer filtration for specific issues.

Earthy Summer Taste

The musty Murray taste that turns up between December and March is removed by carbon filtration. Same cartridge that handles chlorine handles this.

Filter Cartridges

Available in Twin (Sediment/Carbon) or Triple stage (+Scale Reduction) setups. Twin systems run at 60 LPM; Triple systems run at 55 LPM. Includes a 5-year housing warranty and 1-year parts/labour warranty.

Connection to your existing mains supply with the right fittings for your pipework. If your existing plumbing needs work to take the system, we’ll let you know when we quote.
