- Short pipe runs: Modern lot sizes mean shorter distances between the street meter and the house. Unlike older blocks, where long underground pipes naturally reduce water speed through friction, compact blocks receive street pressure almost instantly.
The Real Damage Caused by Unregulated Water Pressure
Excessive line pressure isn’t just a technical number on a gauge. It leads to very specific, costly problems around the home:
- It Voids Appliance WarrantiesMajor manufacturers like Bosch, Fisher & Paykel, and Rheem specify a strict maximum inlet pressure of 500 kPa in their installation manuals. If a dishwasher, washing machine, or hot water system fails due to high pressure, the manufacturer can void your warranty.
